Originally from England, I know the value of beer as a cultural connector. Indeed, beer is more often than not the fuel that drives our desire to learn and prosper. The In Lviv Tours team and I created this exquisite pub crawl, and we invite you to explore the hidden beer capital of Europe with us!
As a Lviv resident since 2013, I don't want to see the gentrification that has irrevocably altered so many towns and cities in neighbouring countries. Mercifully, much of our old town is resistant to such change. Long may it continue.
This respect for tradition has meant that our inns and taverns are thriving. Beer in Lviv has a long and rather wild history, lavish tales of boundless revelry are the stuff of legend and new pages are being written every day. It's probably improbable that our lovely beer lords and ladies will be holding up "Drink me" signs at the bar, but Lviv beer really is as curious as can be, an Alice in every glass! To know Lviv is no easy task, but don't worry, our beer clears the path of least resistance.
Beers are served in either 0.3l or 0.5l glasses. You will drink at least 2l of beer brewed in Lviv region and beyond. Our pubs tour Lviv is the perfect introduction to a thirsty city!
LVIV LOCAL BEER TOUR is led by a local beer hero. We visit five pubs in and around Lviv old town.
"Lviv has been our favourite city for a long time and to return for the first time since February 2022 was really important for us. Having to get to Ukraine through Poland took much longer than expected but understandable in the current situation. Anyway, we first heard about Pete in 2010 from a friend of ours who visited him in Rome where he was manager of a tour company there. She told us he moved to Lviv and does In Lviv Tours now and we thought ok so let's go back to Lviv again, meet him, and take some tours. Lviv hasn't changed so much since 2014 but the bars and pubs have completely changed. Only a few from that time still around. The most important part though is that the beers are better! Pete is English and we were very glad to reminisce about Lviv with him and talk about happier times for Ukraine, but they'll be back for sure. The pubs we visited were a mixture of cult bars, dive bars, Ukrainian pubs and beer cellars. If you'll be in Lviv, look up In Lviv Tours for beer and probably anything else."
