a girl pouring a glass of cider in lviv old town

† Know Before You Book

At first glance, this may seem a somewhat odd, off the wall crawl, indeed, one may wonder if there is a cider scene in Lviv at all. A mere flight of fancy that could easily be added to a beer tour. We disagree. Not everyone who drinks beer likes cider and vice versa. Mixing the two together is simply a really bad idea.

We are no Normandy, nor are we a Brittany. Make mention of Taunton or Somerset and you will get blank stares. That's a pity. We've never seen West Country cider ("scrumpy") in Lviv, and French cider here is rare, but it's ok! Some of the most toothsome tipples we've ever tasted have been in the cidery hideaways of Lviv old town. Rather hard to find, in fact, but we know all the ways in.

Get acquainted with fermentation traditions that blend malt, elderberry and pomegranate with horseradish, hive honey and thyme. Guest ciders can be Field Strawberry, Garden Grape, Harvest Peach, Moon Melon and Sweet Lime, while the on tap regulars are Red Apple, Green Pear, Dark Cherry, Light Cherry and Fresh Raspberry.

FRUITS OF LVIV reveals fragrant Lviv and is led by a local bar star. We include five sweet stops in Lviv old town.

† Cider Tour Lviv reviewed

"This was a totally random addition to 2 other tours I booked, the Holocaust tour and full day tour with a veteran. There are so many interesting tours on the website i'd have booked more had I more time. The tour started and ended really well moving to and from very local bars occupied by youths, students, and as I was told people forced to move to Lviv because of russian missiles. The atmosphere wherever we went was very upbeat. As for the ciders, we drank grape, all sorts of berry flavours, mango and then a couple of craft ciders that were better quality but less fun to drink! Pete was my companion guide and while not from Ukraine, actually Britain, he made me feel very much at home in Lviv. Thanks Pete!!!"
